My interest in space goes back to the Appollo missions of the 1960s, culminating in the landing of man on the moon. I’ll be putting together some information and links on this in due course.
If you are interested in knowing more about the planets in our solar system, the site I would point you to is Nine Planets. I know what you are thinking … Pluto no longer qualifies as a planet now that the definition has been changed by the International Astronomical Union, but the Nine Planets site does recognise this and has details of it as a “dwarf planet”.
The other area of space that interests me is what is coming our way from “out there” or, to be more dramatic, “outer space”. This takes the form of two key areas; the stuff that the sun throws our way (the solar wind) and Near Earth Asteroids. The spaceweather.com site gives regular updates of both. For Near Earth Asteroids I cannot recommend enough the Spaceguard Centre on the border between England and Wales as both an educational and tourism venue.
